Banyule Youth Services
Banyule Youth Services
We value ensuring our events are as inclusive and accessible as possible to make sure everyone has a great day. Please find below our Banyule YouthFest, Access Key and Sensory Map which describe the anticipated sensory experience and main stimulation zones visitors should plan for on the day as well as the location of the quieter and calmer zones.
BYS Staff are available on the day to support. Staff will be easily identifiable as they will all be wearing a Youth Services staff lanyard and black long sleave tops with our Banyule Youth Services logo. Festival Inclusion Support will be available for any questions or assistance on the day. Please find support at the BYS YouthFest Head Quarters (HQ) marquee and in The Nest.
Come chillout in The Nest! Located in the Macleod Community Hall, BYS will provide a low sensory zone for young people and families looking for a quiet space to take a moment before they head back out into the excitement of the festival. Young people will find comfy bean bags, fidgets, headsets, low sensory activities and supportive youth workers and volunteers happy to help.
Yarra Plenty Libraries and Headspace will join us in The Nest this year! The library and Headspace will be providing fun craft wellbeing activities on the day.
Accessible toilets are located throughout the Festival Precinct. We have 1 portable accessible toilet located at the north end of the park and an indoor accessible toilet in The Nest collocated within our low sensory zone located in the Macleod Community Hall.
Accessible parking will be located on Birdwood Ave, in front of the Macleod Community Hall. Please see our Sensory Map for more information.
Charge points for anyone using an electric wheelchairs will be available in our low sensory space – The Nest. BYS will provide designated power outlets to recharge batteries for standard mobility aides (users will be required to supply their own battery charger). Please inform staff at HQ, and they will direct you to The Nest.
If you require further information about accessibility or how to get involved in YouthFest please contact BYS on banyuleyouth@banyule.vic.gov.au or phone 9457 9855.
