Diamond Valley Community Support
Diamond Valley Community Support (DVCS) is committed to helping children at risk reach their full potential and provides financial assistance to families who are experiencing financial difficulties and are unable to meet the full cost of school.
The Back to School Program eligible families can get support with school related expenses including: Stationery and text books, electronic devices, excursions and camps, school sports & other essential school items.
Eligibility Criteria: A parent/guardian or young person must:
- Live within Banyule City Council in the suburbs of Briar Hill, Bundoora, Eltham North, Greensborough, Lower Plenty, Montmorency, St Helena and Watsonia
- Attend a primary or secondary school
- Hold a valid Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card showing their Banyule City Council address and the name of the student(s), and
- Be experiencing financial hardship and not able to meet the full cost of school.

DVCS Education Assistance Directory - Banyule
Banyule Support & Information Centre Inc (BANSIC)
What can be provided: Financial assistance for children at primary and secondary school who reside in postcodes 3079, 3081, 3084, and 3085. Assistance available from Dec – Feb. $100 per child, up to $300 per family (subject to availability).
Eligibility: Must hold a Centrelink Concession card and reside in postcodes 3079, 3081, 3084, and 3085

Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund (CSEF)
What can be provided: financial assistance for students to attend activities including school camps or trips, swimming and school sport programs, excursions and incursions. $125 per year for primary or $225 per year for secondary school students.
Eligibility: Families must have a child attending a Victorian Government primary or secondary school and must hold a Centrelink Concession Card.
How to apply: Schools only can apply on behalf of families and payments are made directly to the school. Apply directly through schools.
State school relief committee
State Schools’ Relief provides support to any Victorian student attending a government school, on the advice of the school. Support includes: Provision of clothing and footwear, iPads for non-verbal students, glasses for kids, graphing calculator program & myki card program.
If you are a parent or carer and you need financial assistance with your child’s government education, please make an appointment with the school principal, assistant principal or welfare/well-being coordinator to discuss your situation.

What can be provided: a PTV Student pass is $310 half year or $594 whole year for unlimited travel on all train, tram and bus services within chosen zones

The Queens Fund
The Queen's Fund supports single women & children in Victoria who are in distress, crisis or emergency situations.
What can be provided: Various support is available including for education expenses such as school uniforms and laptops.
Eligibility: The Queen's Fund provides financial assistance to single, Victorian women and their children who are in crisis, distress or emergency situations. Residency in Victoria for a minimum period of 12 months is required.
How to Apply: The application must be processed by a social/case worker or agency.

Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways
Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways (CEEP) provides young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Melbourne’s North and West with brokerage funding to assist in sustaining education, employment and training.
Support offered: Brokerage packages of up to $1,200 are available to purchase computers, school fees, books, Myki passes, uniforms and other education, employment and training related expenses.
Eligibility: Support Agency submission - Aged between 16-25 years, homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, receiving homelessness support in the North or West areas of Melbourne, a willingness to access employment, education and training opportunities

Community & Volunteers of Eltham (CAVE)
What can be provided: Judith Ireland Studentships of $700 for grade 6 students going into year 7. Year-round assistance for secondary and primary school students is also available.
Eligibility: Studentships are currently available in 22 primary schools across Nillumbik and Banyule. CAVE considers requests for support from any secondary or primary school in Nillumbik and Banyule, and can also provide financial support for specific requests by Scouts, Guides or Sports Clubs.
How to apply: Schools only can apply on behalf of families. Scouts, Guides and Sports Club requests must come through the leaders. Apply directly through schools or club leaders.
