Banyule Youth Services

We value ensuring our events are as inclusive and accessible as possible to make sure everyone has a great day. Please find below our Banyule YouthFest, Access Key and Sensory Map which describe the anticipated sensory experience and main stimulation zones visitors should plan for on the day as well as the location of the quieter and calmer zones.

BYS Staff are available on the day to support. Staff will be easily identifiable as they will all be wearing a Youth Services staff lanyard and black long sleave tops with our Banyule Youth Services logo. Festival Inclusion Support will be available for any questions or assistance on the day. Please find support at the BYS YouthFest Head Quarters (HQ) marquee, in The Nest or at the Low Sensory Tent.

Chill Zone – The Nest

The Nest at YouthFest is located in the Macleod Community Hall and is YouthFest’s dedicated indoor hangout space. Activities will be hosted by partners including headspace, FaPMI and Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries.

The Nest will also feature YouthFest’s first art exhibition, showcasing artwork by young people from Banyule, as well as acoustic performances throughout the day. There will be periods without live music throughout the program.

Low Sensory Tent – Quiet Space

The Low Sensory Tent is the YouthFest quiet zone – It is a space for people to come to ground themselves away from the busy-ness of the festival. Come sit down, listen to calming music with our silent disco headphones, grab a free sensory toolkit, and participate in some gentle colouring activities.

Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilets are located throughout the Festival Precinct. We have 1 portable accessible toilet located at the north end of the park and an indoor accessible toilet in The Nest collocated within our low sensory zone located in the Macleod Community Hall. 

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking will be located on Birdwood Ave, in front of the Macleod Community Hall. Please see our Sensory Map for more information.

Wheelchair Charging Station

Charge points for anyone using an electric wheelchairs will be available in our low sensory space – The Nest. BYS will provide designated power outlets to recharge batteries for standard mobility aides (users will be required to supply their own battery charger). Please inform staff at HQ, and they will direct you to The Nest.
