Young carers are people up to 25 years of age who care in families where someone has an illness, a disability, a mental health issue or who has an alcohol or other drug problem.

Carers Australia runs the Young Carer Information, Advice, Support and Referral program and works closely with the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres.

Livewire is an online peer support community for young people ages 12-20 living in Australia or New Zealand who have a chronic health condition, serious illness or disability, and their siblings. Livewire is powered by Starlight Children’s Foundation provides support for young people who are dealing with tricky stuff and can do with some extra support from crew who understand.
