New Slang

We’re stoked to announce the September instalment of NEW SLANG, a series of monthly all-ages gigs held at The Channel, Arts Centre Melbourne.

This month we’ve got a one-off solo show from Georgia Maq – guitarist, writer and singer of much loved Melbourne band Camp Cope. Georgia will be joined on the night by Two Steps on the Water‘s June Jones, fresh from supporting Julien Baker on her recent East Coast tour.

This event is very very limited capacity. No further shows will be added.

This event will be AUSLAN interpreted.

6PM – 8PM.

Game Changers Women’s Panel Discussion

Hear from AFLW players and commentator Sam Lane : the panel will reflect on the efforts of those who campaigned for the womens’ league, as well as its unique diversity and position to make positive change in the game of AFL.

Kirby Bentley, Australian rules footballer, Vice Captain of the Fremantle Football Club in the AFLW;

Spring Queer Dance Party

The Minus18 dance party is coming at you this school holidays! And it’s taken on one giant make over! Get ready to venture under the ocean for our Glittery Under The Sea Spring Dance Party!

Expect the sparkliest of queer performance artists, DJs from across Sydney and Melbs, dance competitions, treasure hunts, buddy booths and so much glitter you are going to be finding it in your hair for days!

Joining us from the instagram fame circle will be the legend CHILLI Phil who will be running a craft corner in the Cutie Space!

Tattoo artist Cynthia will be creating a live canvas artwork before your very eyes.

The incredible Winter Cyan will be performing circus tricks live on stage. And HULA BABE Miss La-Tonya will be spinning so many hoops, you won’t be able to keep count.

Pull out your Hello Kitty diary and jot down the date, tix and venue will be released super soon!

Catching public transport? Meet the Minus Crew at the train station at 3pm & 5pm. And the crew will show you how to get to the sparkly venue. They will also do a drop off back at station at 9pm. 

Wondering what to wear? Take inspiration from our delicious theme ‘A Glittery Under The Sea Adventure’ and dress as your favourite sea creature, Nemo, merman or sea urchin! Or just come in your fave tee and cons - low pressure - very posi vibes!
