Comps, Jam sessions and more

Each year Banyule Youth Services hold events at the Greensborough Skate Park (Skate only) and Malahang Skate Park (Scooter only).

All events will be posted on the front page of the Banyule Youth Services website and on the Banyule Youth Services Facebook page.

Scooter Comp Malahang 2018

Malahang Bike Hut

When: Every Thursday from 3:30pm - 5:00pm during the school term.

Where: Malahang Reserve, Heidelberg West

The Bike Hut operates out of Malahang Reserve, West Heidelberg in a purpose built shed by the Banyule Council for young people and the community to fix their bikes, scooters and skate-boards. Bikes are also donated and given out to locals to ride to school, work or for recreation. Young people are encouraged to learn bike mechanics and safe riding skills as they help fix their bikes.

The Bike Hut is run by Open House who have a keen interest in biking and supporting the community. Opening hours are Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00pm

Open House Youth Workers also run Back Yard Sport - an outdoor games session for young people which include basketball, soccer, football and more on Thursday afternoons while the Bike Hut is open.

Malahang Skate Park

Where: Malahang Reserve, Corner of Oriel and Southern Roads in Heidelberg West. 

A fun medium sized park that is great for learning, getting you skills up or practicing that new trick you have been working on. It features a double bowl with hip, waved ledge, box, quarter with flat banks and a nice grind rail.

The park is popular with both skate and scooter riders and has a seating rotunda, BBQ'S, toilet and children’s playground nearby, as well and plenty of open grassy space for chilling out, kicking a ball or throwing Frisbee.

Greensborough Skate Park

Where: Yando Street, Greensborough. At the eastern side of Kalparrin Gardens

Banyule’s biggest skate park features loads of quarters, ledges, banks, rail, a solid euro gap and steps. There is also a square-ish bowl about 6-7 foot deep with an over vert corner.

This park is loads of fun is a more suited to riders with some experience.

It can be a little difficult to get to the second level of obstacles in the street section.

Mainly used by skateboarders it also provides a lot of fun for scooter and BMX.

The park also features a water tap and shaded seating area. The closest toilets are at the nearby Greensborough Plaza

Eaglemont Dirt Jumps

Where: Off The Boulevard, East Ivanhoe, behind the Eaglemont Tennis Club.

Features include a fun medium size pump track pump that is perfect for practicing skills or for the kids or roll around. It featuring small berms, rollers and series of Whoops/Rhythms.

There is also a series of 3 good size table tops that are big enough to have some real fun on and small enough for the kids to roll over and get a thrill.

At the jumps there is a couple of picnic tables and 100m away there is a BBQ, drinking tap, small children’s playground and a basketball ring.

The jumps and park are on the main Yarra Trail and provide great access to walking and riding trails.
