The P Drivers Project  is a large-scale road safety research project currently happening in Victoria and New South Wales. It's designed to encourage and assist new P plate drivers between 18 and 22 to improve their driving and ultimately save lives.

 
The project involves new P platers sharing their opinions and experiences through surveys and group discussions and receiving safe driving coaching from a professional driving coach.

Truth 4 Youth is a blog written by and for youth. It is part of the SHYNE project - we have an enthusiastic committee who meet regularly to engage in training, workshop each other's pieces and generally shape the project.

In Australia, one in three women will be assaulted or abused in her lifetime. These women are our mothers, our girlfriends, our wives, our daughters, our colleagues and our friends. How have we allowed this to occur?

Who are protective services officers?

Protective Services Officers (PSOs) are armed & uniformed officers who have been given the power to apprehend, arrest, search & fine people. Their powers are restricted to
particular areas called 'designated places'.

What are designated areas?

Young people providing care to someone with a mental illness are one of the most hidden groups of people in key research and data collection activities targeting Australian carers. They also experience significant disadvantage and marginalisation as a result of their caring role.

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in Australia & around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.

Youthlaw is conducting a survey to better understand the relationship between young people and Victoria Police. If you are aged between 14 and 25 and have something to say about your experiences with Victoria Police please click on the link below. The link will take you to a short 5-10min survey, asking you a range of questions about your interactions and feelings of Victoria Police. The findings of this survey will be used by Youthlaw, to inform future policy proposals, which will be presented to members of the Victorian government.

What is the Census?

The Census of Population and Housing aims to accurately count the number of people in Australia, their key characteristics, and the dwellings in which they live through a nationwide survey. Census night is Tuesday, 9 August, 2011. Every household in Australia receives a Census Form in which there is a series of questions that relate to housing and population demographics.

The 'Tell Someone' Website is aimed at educating people with a mild intellectual disability and their family and community about family violence. It clearly articulates that families come in all shapes, sizes, and types including people living in residential settings with carers. It includes plain English information and a series of videos with very clear messages from people with disability sharing their experiences.

The Greensborough Skate Park is being extended. For this to happen, the skate park needs to be closed for two weeks from May 12 to May 30.

The Centrelink Access Centre located at 25 Main St will close at 4:30 on Friday December 10. A new purpose built Greensborough Customer Service Centre will open on Monday December 13. The centre will be located at 16-20 Grimshaw St Greensborough.

The Brotherhood of St Lawrence have two initiatives that they have developed with ANZ  to assist people 18 years and older to address financial problems.
Progress Loans are a low repayment loan designed to help people on concession and health care cards. The loans can be for things like education and medical expenses or to buy house hold goods or a car. Amounts available are $500-$3000 or $5000 for a car.

YFV3081 Summer Grant applications' due date has been extended to Wednesday November 1oth at 5pm.  YFV3081facilitator, Andrea Rieniets, will be available to help you until THIS Friday November 5th. Then she is away next week.  

The Australian Human Rights Commission is encouraging young people (aged 25 years and under) who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing human rights in Australia, to nominate for the Young People's Human Rights Medal.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday, 4 October, 2010. Winners will be presented with their Medals and Awards at a ceremony to be held on Human Rights Day, Friday, 10 December 2010 at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel in Sydney.
